Kamen Rider Kiva episode 6: " Replay: Humans are all Music"
Kivat-Bat yaks on about some fact involving violins as usual as we recap Kiva's battle with the Sheep Fangire. Nago's first epic Henshin (into the newly-unveiled Kamen Rider Ixa) doesn't happen, as his attention is drawn to Megumi's plight. He turns around again and Kiva is gone. He goes to find Megumu, but she's gone too. He finds her dart-like bullets, and realizes she's been taken. He turns around yet again and Wataru is standing there there. Nago asks Wataru if he's seen the creature he calls "Kiva". Wataru points to himself, but Nago just thinks he's being a bonehead and dashes off. Wataru is troubled now that he knows his hero Nago wants to destroy Kiva.
1986. Otoya and Shima are talking at the cafe about Yuri. Shima explains just who he is after Otoya asks, about the Fangire Hunters and their battle to protect humanity. Otoya wants to save Yuri, if only "to be by her side." Shima makes a deal with him; if Otoya helps to save Yuri, he'll "see what he can do about that."
Elsewhere, Yuri awakens, tied up and in a strange, childish place, surrounded by photoes of herself. The Spider Fangire is there. He aks if she remembers him, and then begins acting totally over the top. I don't think I can stress this enough, something apparently happened to Spider Fangire in the time between when he fought Yuri last and now. He became obsessed with her, and he also became a total ham sandwich. Watch as his voice goes all high and squeaky, and he makes animal noises with hand puppets.
2008. Megumi wakes up in the same place, now 22 years later and very run-down. She spots the photos of her mother. Spider and Sheep Fangire are both there. Spider calls her Yuri, and is still as wacky as he was in the 80's. He whacks the more timid Sheep about, ignoring the other Fangire's own Megumi obsession. And you really can't blame either of them, can you? It must be the hair or something, but Megumi looks positively smokin' in this episode.
1986. Otoya is checking the scne where Yuri vanished, examining the sticky webbing still on the ground. He looks around, but no sign of Yuri. Jirô suddenly appears,
sniffing the air. He seems to sense something. "What you doing!?" Otoya asks. Jirô tells him to follow him.
2008. Wataru is in the same place again, and Sheep Fangire shows up. They're really pushing the "same place, different time" thing, aren't they? Well, it worked in Genealogy of Justice!
1986. Jirô & Otoya go to a derelict amusement park, "Scooby Doo"-style. Jirô knows that Yuri is there. Otoya asks why he's suddenly helping him, and Jirô gives him some guy talk and then leaves because, hey, there's coffee to be drunk. Or something.
Spider is painting Yuri's toe nails and still using the hand puppets. Otoya suddenly shows up to hit him from behind!
2008. The same thing happens in the same place, but with a different hand puppet. I'm sure there's some deeper meaning to that. Wataru walks in and does things totally differently than daddy:
"Excuse me..."
"Who the hell are you?"
Wataru politely asks for him to let Megumi go, but Spider smacks him aside, and sees that Sheep brought him there.
"Megumi is mine!"
Spider changes to Fangire form, and Sheep runs for it. Wataru is screwed.
1986. Jirô at the cafe, talks with Kido. He comments that while the coffee is good, what's a cafe without a waitress?
Spider is now doing Yuri's make-up and looks like he's been doing his own as well. Seriously guys, did I miss something here? When did Spider Fangire go from a living corpse to Foppy McFopperson? Otoya has been knocked out and tied up, but spared of make-up thankfully. So at least Spider hasn't reached Level Daisuke yet.
Yuri says he can cut their ropes with her necklace, and he humorously bites the chain off and attempts to cut them out. As they do, they make small talk and Otoya drops the episode title when he says that "Humans are all music." Spider shows up with a wedding dress for Yuri. Uh-oh...
2008. Wataru is also now tied up, talking to Megumi about how useless he is. Megumi sees her Mother's necklace on the ground and uses it to cut herself out. She sees from a photo that her mother had the same necklace, and realizes she had been here once.
"Why are you so strong Megumi?" Wataru asks.
Megumi quotes what Otoya had told her mother. Wataru contemplates this "Humans are all music" thing. Megumi says she doesn't get it, but she "wants to protect the music in herself."
Spider shows up with a new dress, wearing make-up again. God, what did he do for 22 years anyway?
Sheep Fangire suddenly returns to attack him, shooting him up. Spider runs for it. Sheep reverts to human form. But he is just as crazy about Megumi as his pal was. "You are mine!"
1986. Spider is preparing for a "wedding" in a large, fancy hall...
2008. And the same thing with Sheep. Megumi is tied dow, ready to become Sheep's next victim. Wataru manages to break free and escape. "I hear Megumi's music".
1986. Spider prepares to take Yuri. She awakens and recoils in horror. Otoya shows up wielding double pipes. It's on!
2008. Sheep is going to take Megumi with his... um... wool-tentacles. Kivat-Bat and Wataru appear.
"Henshin!"
Kiva attacks Sheep in human form. Sheep quickly transforms in his Fangire form. But really, how often do you see Kiva beating up on people before they go into monster mode?
1986. Otoya is getting his butt kicked by Spider Fangire. Spider turns his attention to Yuri, but Jirô appears to save everyone. He beckons to Spider.
2008. Kiva is still fighting Sheep Fangire. Megumi awakens to see Kiva in action. Time changes with almost every scene now, so try to keep track of things.
1986. Jirô is fighting Spider Fangire in human form. He removes his jacket. His eyes turn red. He crossses his hands, and yells into the air. His clothes shred and he becomes Garulu, in his original monster form. The wolfman violently attacks.
2008. In the same place, now with Kiva getting attacked by the super fast Sheep Fangire. Sheep sendsKiva flying through a tree.
2007. Hiyori is still cooking.
1986. Garulu beats up Spider throwing him around, grabbing him, biting him, tussling about in the leaves like a dog and his chew toy. Spider shoots webbing at Garulu's face. Garulu tears it off, but finds Spider gone. Garulu reverts to a shirtless and presumably pantsless-Jirô.
2008. Kiva & Sheep Fangire are still fighting, Sheep uses his gun and pumps our main man full of etheral lead, but Castle Dran arises and you know what's coming.
Garulu plays chess with the other older man, Dogga. The young boy, the human form of the monster Basshaa (or Bassher if you prefer) opens the window, letting the light in. He talks to his comrades and helps the game along by causing one of Dogga's pieces to be... eaten.
Kiva uses a Fuestle to summon Basshaa.
"Oh, he called me!"
He changes into the Basshaa Magnum, briefly flashing to his true gillman form. The Magnum flies to Kiva's hand, and he transforms in a similar to how he became Garulu Form, only on the reverse side.
"It's over! Show yourself" says Sheep Fangire.
Basshaa Form shoots high-impact water blasts at him, knocking the gun from his hand. But Sheep is too fast to be hit by his shots. So Basshaa Form charges up gun.
Day becomes night, And suddenly Basshaa Form stands atop of shimmering lake. He charges up a huge cyclone of water as the guns "fins" spin, and he shoots a massive blast which homes in on Sheep Fangire and kills him stone dead. Basshaa Form walks up to the frozen Fangire, pokes him, and he shatters. Castle Dran eats the remains.
Later, Wataru is playng violin for Megumi at the hosptal. He has become much better since last time. Shizuka is there too. Wataru talks of what she said earlier about "oneself's music", and she seems perplexed by his words. He smiles and says "it's nothing."
1986. Jirô walking around the city at night. He starts to turns into his monster form again, his eyes changing from red to yellow...
NEXT TIME: I hope you like Jirô/Garulu, because this next episode looks pretty Garulu-heavy. There's also more of the usual silliness. And maybe Nago will finally get a chance to Henshin some time.
***
LOL. You really had to include Hiyori in there.
ReplyDeleteGreat episode, Garulu true form is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if anyone has stated this but the horror motif is furthrt solidified by the wolfman, gillman/merman, frankenstien monsters helping kiva.
ReplyDeleteLOL, "spoilers and bondage"
ReplyDeleteGreat summary. Wolf rulez!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the actress for Yuri like 17? I think it's weird that SHE DOESN'T LOOK THE AGE! I thought she was like in her 20s, 'cause of the hair and all.
Yuri and Megumi both looked and dressed so DAMN beatiufully. Hell, I'll have both of them.
