That's some damn good coffee!

As was pointed out to me last week, TV-Asahi is back to calling them "Fangire" which is what I said at the beginning. So (this week, anyway), they're the "Fangire" again.

And I know this blog has been basically dead lately. Not my choice, that's just life. But I'll be at least getting it (not the mention the main site) back on track soon. Thanks for sitting tight.

Spoilers and unexpected aborted Henshin ahead.

Kiss me. Kiss me now.

Kamen Rider Kiva Episode 5: "Instrumental Duo: Stalker Panic"

There's a recap of Garulu killing something and Kivat-Bat yakking on about the violin. Then we cut to kids at a playground, where a really creepy camera stalks everything. It turns out to be Wataru's POV. He gets yelled at by like every mom in Japan until Shizuka arrives to apologize for him. She tries to convince the gathering crowd that he's changed, and to extend his friendship, he's holding a mini concert. And you're all invited.

At Wataru's house. He goes upstairs to where his audience awaits. Their comments do not inspire much confidence. Shizuka takes over the announcment after Wataru fumbles it, and tries to cheer him on. Wataru begins playing, but it's terrible and drives everyone out in pain. The concert is a total screw-up and Wataru is now more hated than ever. As he cries, Shizuka tries to convince him it didn't go that bad, but even she can't kid herself. Wataru thinks of Nago, who he looks up to as an idol now, and seeks out his advice.

A woman is walking along, when a familiar face appears watching her. Nago asks what he's doing, and he runs off. Megumi (the woman) then asks what HE's doing, and he insists he is guarding her from Kiva. They have another squabble and then it's time to jump back into the past.

1986. Watch for the cool transistion with the concert posters. Otoya is still hitting on Yuri. This is mostly an excuse for Toei's period drama people to flex their muscles and change the green payphone to a yellow one. Well, and for Otoya to hit on Yuri.

2008. At the cafe, Wataru asks Nago if he can become his pupil in order to become a better person. Nago, amused, agrees and says he understands Wataru's feelings. He then gives Wataru a mission...

1986. Watch as the dog in 2008 morphs back into a puppy (that's one old dog.) Otoya goes to the cafe ("As a customer") to harass Yuri some more.

"Your order?"

"You."

"Get out!"

Suddenly, Garulu appears to throw him out! Well, here he's known as Jirô (literally "Next Wolf") and he's also there as a customer. He comments that the blend coffee is 800 Yen, too expensive. This draws Kido's attention, but Jirô states he doesn't pay for bad-tasting coffee, however he's willing to frop 10,000 Yen on a good cup. Kido takes him up on the challenge. The customer takes his time smelling the coffee, drawing it in and reacting as though it sends him in a trance, or a frenzy. And then he drinks it down in one gulp.

"Keep the change."

Commercial Break. There's an ad for the upcoming Den-O/Kiva movie. The main casts from both shows put in appearances. It's definitely Den-O's movie though, with Kiva appearing as a "special guest". Zeronos & Deneb will be there too. All three Riders are shown fighting alongside each other, and a dark Imagin similar to Momotaros is also shown.

2008. Wataru's job is to follow Megumi in place of Nago. As he watches her from th bushes, he encounters someone else watching her. A man named Noboru (I'm pretty sure it's Noboru) who rattles off details about her like nothing. Megumi sneezes (this is a sign someone is talking you somewhere.)

Later, at a pool, Megumi goes swimming. Wataru & the other guy watch from below and speak in subtitles. Wataru seems unaware that he is slowly turning into a stalker...

1986. Yuri in the same pool. She senses something approach. Something, or someone. Someone she knows...

2008. Megumi doing a modeling shoot. Wataru & Noboru are still stalking her. Eventually the other man convinces Wataru to go into her dressing room and get her contact information. He finds her purse, locates her cell phone, and... Megumi appears.

At the cafe, she yells at Nago & Wataru. Nago seems concerned about the man Wataru was running around with. Later Wataru takes the requisite bath and talks to Kivat-Bat about daddy again.

Elsewhere, Megumi, in her apartment, looks at a photo of her mother.

1986. Yuri goes outside and again senses she's being followed. Otoya shows up, but gets punched out by Jirô/Garulu. They get into a fight. Shima briefly appears and walks right through the middle, causing them (and the music) to pause before they start fighting again.

Yuri is walking through a large garage when she steps in a web. The Spider Fangire (who had earlier been watching her, in human form) drops down on her!

2008. Wataru follows Megumi into the same place, where Noboru appears asking for her signature. The guy is a a fan... and a Sheep Fangire. He attacks Megumi. She pulls out her gun and starts shooting at him. "I'll kill you nicely!"

As they struggle, Wataru summons Kivat-Bat. Considering how close they are, it sure seems like Megumi should have seen that...

"Henshin!"

He shanges to Kiva Form and fights the monster. Sheep Fangire moves super fast and sends Kiva flying. Kiva summons the Garulu Saber. Castle Dran emerges, and the Garulu Saber goes to Kiva's hand.

Yet again the encircle parts of his body and he becomes Garulu Form. Kiva goes wild, but the monster is still to fast for him and overpowers him easily. Kiva about to get sliced with own sword, but Megumi saves him. The Fangire turns its attention to her. Suddenly Nago appears to confront Kiva. "You will die by my hand." He reashes into his jacket and says "Henshin!" but is distracted by Megumi, who is moments away from death.

In 1986, Otoya finds the web where Yuri was last seen, but she is now far away, in the cluthces of the Spider Fangire.

NEXT TIME: With both heroines in danger, our heroes must act in two different eras. Garulu fights Spider Fangire as himself, and Bassha Form debuts!

  1. I swear, it's easier for me to call Garuru, "Growl." Either name does seem kinda cool.

Wow... Wataru is still a loser, even moreso than Ryotaro.

  4. Yes, Finally Matsuda Kenji finally got to really DO something Kiva.

and I love that the upcoming movie is very focused on Den-O, instead of trying to push this new rider on us.

  5. I wonder if Otoya would be the third rider to appear in the show? After all, we need a third rider to prevent these 2 riders from killing each other
