Momotaros and Urataros continue to fight until Hana shows up to punch them both out and give them a good yelling-at. Ryôtarô becomes a victim of collateral Naomi-induced damage. Momotaros reacting to the fork = easily the best line in the episode.

Crust Imagin continues to attack Daiki's teammates. If this was Kamen Rider Kuuga, he'd probably kill them, but he just seems to injure them before moving on.
Urataros hits on Hana some more, and reveals that he knows that Ryôtarô is unique, something that surprises everyone but Ryôtarô, who just doesn't have a clue what that means. Hana tells him to take five while she goes and searches for Crust Imagin, starting with his Contract partner.

At the hospital, Daiki is horrified to find his injured teammates being wheeled into the same room as him.
Urataros comments on how quiet (and boring) it is now, before being told off by Momotaros. The blue Imagin then relates how lonely he felt when he was outside, in the Sands of Time, and how he wished to one day ride the Den-Liner. His words move even Momotaros.
Hana asks Daiki what he knows, but he lies and claims ignorance of the situation before running out of the hospital. She contacts Naomi & Momotaros, who report that Ryôtarô has left the Den-Liner with Urataros.
"What!? Why!?" Hana asks.
Why else, Hana? To make like the mack daddy that he is, of course. UraRyô lives it up with the ladies (including school girls...um...) while Hana yells at Momotaros for being swayed by the other Imagin's words. Momotaros gets mad, and when Momo gets mad, people die! Or something like that.
At the Milk Dipper, Ryôtarô tries to restrain Urataros from taking over while he chats with his sister. Because, yeah, that would be really weird. Fortunately, Ozaki & Miura arrive on the scene, with Ozaki still trying to make good with Ryôtarô (and get his wallet back) and Miura convinced that he's been possessed. Ryôtarô suddenly changes to his UraRyô self, and I think Ozaki's reaction sums up all you need to know about this scene:

Ryôtarô meets up with Hana & Daiki, still denying his involvement. Urataros tells Ryôtarô that he knows who the Contract partner is, and is allowed to take control of his body. But before he can lead Hana off for some more flirting, she grows angry. She realizes that Urataros lied so he could get control of Ryôtarô again (who has been trying to repress the possession due to his weakening body) and yells at him for "Running away from reality" with his lies.
Urataros leaves Ryôtarô and Daiki, moved by Hana's words, tells the truth. He had been taken out of the regulars on his team for missing a penalty kick during a crucial match, and desired to return to the starting lineup. His wish was to return to the team, but he had no idea that it would involve Crust Imagin hurting his teammates.
With Daiki's help, the good guys locate Crust Imagin, but it's too late, and the Kaijin enters Daiki's body and returns to his past. The Den-Liner follows, returning to 10/15/2006.

On the way, Momotaros chews out Urataros, and suddenly the Den-Liner Owner appears.
He tells Ryôtarô to make the choice of whether Urataros should be thrown out of the Den-Liner or not. If he chooses to do so, Urataros will drift between time and space forever. Even Urataros is speechless at this demand.
"We're arriving soon. Please decide." the Owner asks. Ryôtarô decides to let him stay. Even if he is deceitful and generally a pain in the butt to everyone, he also did unintentionally convince Daiki to tell the truth, so he can stay.
Crust Imagin, back on the day of Daiki's big failure, doesn't even bother to use his body- he just comes right out and attacks! With a big pair of scissors...that have the word "KANI" on them...right.

The Den-Liner appears before any serious damage can be done, and Ryôtarô transforms into Den-O Sword Form. Crust Imagin repeats that it is not his intention to fight him. Meanwhile, the mysterious man with the watch (who I like to call Watchman) observes...
Crust Imagin escapes into the sea, and pulls Den-O in after him. Momotaros reveals that he can't swim, and our hero/heroes are pretty much screwed. But suddenly, Urataros speaks to Ryôtarô. He explains that he may be a liar about many things, but one thing that isn't a lie is that he can swim.

Den-O presses the blue button on his belt and swipes the Rider Pass across the buckle. Den-O Sword Form's armor flies off an rearranges itself, turning him into Den-O Rod Form, with a new mask piece to finish things off. Den-O leaps out of the ocean to the surprise of Crust Imagin. Arranging the Den-Gassher parts into a spear-like configuration, Den-O Rod Form evens the odds. When Crust Imagin tries to escape into the sea again, Den-O quite literally fishes him out with the help of Rod Form's personalized Den-Liner section, Isurugi.

Despite destroying Crust Imagin with the one-two combination of throwing his weapon into the monster and giving him a Rider Kick (nod to X-Rider), the crusty guy suddenly turns into a giant sea dragon thingy! Den-O boards the Den-Liner and uses everything it's got to make the giant GiganDeath Hades nothing more than a memory, and it's all good.
Perhaps thanks to Crust Imagin's little appearance in the past, Daiki is still on the regulars, everybody's happy, and Momotaros & Urataros...well, they don't exactly make up, but at least they aren't trying to kill each other at the end again.
To Be Continued...
Great review! What do you think of the first few eps of Den-O so far, as compared to the first few eps of Kabuto? I find Kabuto a snoozefest. :P
ReplyDeleteHaha, we'll wait for the midpoint of the series to tell if it's really good. It's usually where the breakdowns begin. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kind of have the feeling that for all the praise it's getting now, if Den-O loses itself at any point, it'll be Kabuto all over again. Of course, I didn't mind the way Kabuto ended up quite as much as some, so I'll probably like it all the same, but I'm also terribly easy to please. (^_^)
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've liked Den-O a lot. It's wacky, unique, and very entertaining. Compared to the first few from Kabuto though...hard to say. 1 & 2 of Kabuto were a pretty good start, and 3 & 4 more or less managed to get a complete story done in each one (well, sorta) and 5 & 6 aren't especially memorable aside from having Ogawa Atsushi appear...IIRC.
Where Kabuto started to actually get shakey for me was, of course, the Kagami-becomes-TheBee part. I hope Den-O handles its second Rider a bit better.
