LOL B1G S0wR D!!!

And here we go again.

Spoilers are stuck in the wall.

Rats!

Kamen Rider Kiva Episode #37: "Triangle: Death to the King"

Kivat and Tatsulot discuss the plot again over scenes from last episode.

"Please stop joking around!" says Wataru. He doesn't believer Mio, but she persists. He doesn't know what to say. Taiga listens in on all this, and is slowly moved to tears. His bride-to-be-loves his best friend. Sucks to be Taiga right now!

Wataru makes his special brand of pasta (he stole the recipe from Shôichi) for Shizuka, Kivat and Tatsulot. Wait, so they eat too? All these revelations about the Kurenai househould so suddenly! Also, Wataru's "secret sauce" is appearently not very appealing.

Amidst this wackiness, Wataru has a random flashback to a chat with Taiga.

Taiga talks about the love triangle business with Bishop, who surprises him by revealing he's figured out who Mio likes already: Kurenai Wataru. Bishop wonders why Taiga cares about Mio so much; his real job is to kill Wataru. Leave the lovey-dovey stuff up to the man with the glasses. Watch how Bishop eggs him on in this scene, there's definitely more going on here than meets the eye. Taiga can't kill Wataru though. He's his friend.

No, he still doesn't realize. Come on Taiga... if your advisor dude tells you that you must destroy Kiva one episode, and you must kill Wataru in another.... can't you put it together? Well, I guess not.

Taiga gives Wataru an invite to his wedding, trying to smooth things over between them. Wataru says he can't give up on Mio though, he's loved her from the beginning. Taiga's response is to punch him out. Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be a common way of dealing with problems in Inoue's scripts. Two characters having a disagreement, more often than not, leads to one of them decking the other to the floor.

"You're weak... you've been weak since we were kids".

Taiga entered the cafe as a friend, but now leaves as an enemy.

1986. The Rat Fangire attacks some people and kills requisite helpless victim #1. Yuri shows up to fight back, but the monster beats her up good. Otoya appears, and blasts it away with the IXA Knuckle. I swear, you could make a drinking game out of how often someone is saved by the IXA Knuckle's blast-thingy (don't include the movie or you're guarenteed to get alcohol poisoning.)

Yuri bats Otoya away though, she doesn't want his help. She runs at the monster, a scene of Otoya with Maya playing in her mind. She is mad as hell, and she's not taking anymore. Rat wisely decides to book it. Furious, Yuri pushes Otoya aside again and taks the IXA Knuckle from him. She hears a scream, and confronts the Rat as he kills requisite helpless victim #2. She transforms.

Yuri-IXA fights the Rat monster, but he pulls out his gun and shoots her back. Suddenly, the belt begins to steam as the timer sounds, and IXA is besieged with questionably-superimposed electricity. Yuri falls to the ground. Rat approaches to kill her, but he is blasted back by... Maya.

"Queen... why do you interfere!?"

Maya wants to protect Yuri for her own reasons. Rat persists, but she blasts him again. She needs Yuri for something... As she leaves, the Rat is upset.

"I cannot forgive you... ever...!"

2008. Mio walks along the park, checking her phones for messages from Wataru. He wants to meet up and talk with her. Another Rat watches from the bushes. Furious, he stalks towards her. Wataru appears to see this, and becomes Kiva, pulling the monster out of the way before he gets Mio. Taiga appears instead.

"You're waiting for Wataru..."

Taiga goes on a rant and slams Wataru as being a wuss. He grabs Mio, asking her to see the truth.

Kiva struggles with the monster, wondering why he's after Mio. Two of Rat Fangire's fellow Rat Fangire appear, and suddenly it's 3-on-one. The monsters blast him right back to Wataru, and run for it. Wataru gives chase.

Megumi has a "coffee break time" at the cafe. I guess now that Rook is dead, she's waiting for a new motivation. Nago busts in, asking for thumbtacks and sticky tape. He's stolen back the IXA Knuckle from Kengo, and time is short. He puts down a strip of thumbtacks on the grip of the Knckle, so that when Kengo tries to use it, he'll get his fingers stabbed. Whoa there Nago! That's the craziest thing you've done since... well, in a while. Unfortunately, Kengo appears, punches him out, peels the strip off, and walks out. Poor Nago ends up getting the thumbtacks stuck in his face.

Can I just say here that I'm starting to get a bit tired of Kengo? He's been doing the "I'm so badass" thing for a couple episodes now, and... that's it. At least Nago was an entertaining bastard, whereas Kengo is just sort of a jerk: he can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk? His triumphant return was okay, but it's mostly been punching and frowning since then.

Judging by the preview, he'll finally do something new next episode, but I fully expect him to either 1) die horribly or 2) get his butt kicked, realize he's been a jackass to everybody, and revert to good ol' Kengo. Or maybe just get his butt kicked, have Nago triumphantly take up being IXA again, and Kengo will just kinda be forgotten about until he gets turned into a Fangire in the penultimate episode and gets mercy-killed by Yaguruma.

Taiga is ticked off at Mio. He decides the only course of action is to eliminate her, as the King. But then the Rat Pack shows up, with Wataru fighting them off. Taiga watches as his ex-friend is beaten up royally. I do like that Wataru fights back though. Check out when he pins down that one guy and punches the crap out of him!

Despite pausing to profess his love for Mio, Wataru is beaten down by the Rats. Mio goes to help him, but Taiga stops her.

"This is what happens when the Fangire love humans."

The Rats beat the tar outta Wataru, and he collapses in slow motion. The monsters then surround the couple. Taiga asks if they would dare attack the King & Queen. The Rats have a score to settle with Queen (dating back to '86 of course) so they don't care.

They've sealed their own fate. Taiga becomes Saga to protect his Queen. The Rider takes Mio by the wrist and leads her away, fighting off the Tats.

1986. King & Queen discuss Kurenai Otoya. King asks if she loves Otoya.

"What of it?"

King holds his sword to her, but throws it away, right into the wall. So that's how it got there!

King could kill his Queen... but he can't love a dead lady, now can he? He's clearly not pleased with this Otoya thing though.

2008. Wataru rises slowly, weakly. Jirô appears, offering him one more chance.

Wataru wants the power to protect Mio. In Castle Dran, he pulls the sword from the wall with relative ease this time, surprising the Arms Monsters. But its evil influence overtakes him, and he attacks the Arms Monsters with it. Jirô grabs him from behind, but is thrown away. The mad Wataru & his monster cohorts tustle and fight. Even Riki isn't strong enough to stop him.

As a last resort, the Arms Monsters revert to their weapon forms, and merge into one being... Zanbat. He speaks in the voice of Jirô (and possibly the others.)

He grabs onto the sword, using his own influence to quell its evil power. Wataru returns to normal, impressed with this great power. A Fuestle appears on the face of Zanbat...

The Rats knock Mio out as they fight Saga. Tatsulot and Kivat appear to knock them aside. They go to Wataru, who becomes Kiva, going right to Emperor Form, and wielding the Zanvat Sword.

He pulls Zanbat up and dwon it as he slashes the monsters. With a powerful downward slash, he kills a Rat stone dead.

A ton of Rat Fangire appear. So he uses the Fuestle from Zanbat in Kivat, drawing the bat along the sword, turning it red. He runs through the monsters, slashing them all. Garulu counts down with each one. Kiva draws Zanbat down the blade, and the monsters explode. Looks cool. I want the DX toy now!

Saga sees Kiva, and attacks him. But armed with his mighty Bigass Rider Sword of the Year™, Kiva is more than a match and easily beats Saga away. Saga uses his whip, but just ends up getting thrown around himself. Mio sees this, and stands in the way. She becomes the Pearl Shell Fangire. Kiva can't believe his eyes as Mio attacks him with a barrage of pearls. Kiva is knocked back, and reverts to Wataru.

Mio is shocked. Wataru is Kiva?

Taiga is shocked. Wataru is Kiva?

Wataru is shocked. Taiga is Saga and Mio is the Pearl Shell Fangire?

The audience is shocked. What, none of them had figured it out by now?

The three stand as their destinies continue to chain together...

NEXT TIME:

"Wataru is Kiva... that can't be..."

Taiga attacks Maya!

"Wataru... you and I are brothers..."

Kengo fights as IXA!

"This is Kivat-Bat The Second!"

A dark new warrior appears...

"King could kill his Queen... but he can't love a dead lady, now can he? He's clearly not pleased with this Otoya thig though."

  5. Fantastic summary. But I feel really sad for the AMs. They get sucked into an evil sword? Matsuda has to count like the Count?!
And when will people be shocked that Wataru has a "pest" problem?
