Spoilers and KRAZEEEEEE Nago ahead.

Kamen Rider Kiva episode 17: "Lesson: My Way"
Powered IXA blows away the monster while Kivat gets in the way and talks about Niccolò Paganini. And he laughs, a lot. I think they're going for a bit of a Kivat personality overhaul.
Garulu carries Wataru into Castle Dran, where we see him in a bed of roses, with the support monsters around him. Garulu mentions the fulfillment of the promise made to Wataru's father.
Wataru awakens to see the monsters in weapon form, then jolts up, and is suddenly back home.
"Just a dream... The promise with my father..."
Kivat has a new hammock/bed thing, and is feeling under the weather. Wataru thinks back to Dai-chan and his true evil self as he tries to make more violions. Wataru talks of how all the nice people he meets turn out to be Fangire.
In a garage somewhere, a thief watches the transportion of money. The man, Sakaguchi, then jumps out of the car, wearing whas looks suspiciously like a George W. Bush mask. Nago shows up to beat him up, but is overpowered, and the man tries to escape in the van... but there's no key. Sakaguchi gets into his own car, and drives off, but Nago runs after him. For you see, this guy made a fatal error: he took one of Nago's buttons, whichs turns Regular, Bastard Mode Nago into Raging Lunatic Mode Nago. He runs after the car like T-1000.
Shizuka & Megumi bust into Wataru's place, but he's gone. Shizuka even checks the bath, but no Wataru. Megumi finds a note.
"Please don't look for me."
1986. Yuri runs up a building to find Otoya playing on the rooftop. Yuri shows him a picture of some kids, and asks for him to become the teacher for one named Mami. Otoya flatly refuses, and tries to leave, but Yuri persists. So only with a little bribery does he agree to take the girl on as a pupil.
2008. Wataru drives through the countryside alone on Machine-Kivaa. He looks out over the beautiful view, and soon he's throwing stones into a lake. He hears a noise, and looks up to see a woman practicing archery. Despite not turning to see him, she acknowledges his presence. She asks if he wants to try. Wataru does, with some trouble. Wataru misses and shoots the arrow way past the target. But the woman, Mami, finds him amusing.
1986. Otoya and Yuri search for Mami, with Otoya particularly gung-ho now about getting the job done. They find her, and Otoya becomes the victim of an elaborate trap. Mami is of course a cocky little punk and Otoya is ready to pummel her, but Yuri holds him back.
"From here on I'll be your Great Teacher!"
The girl is a self-professed savant though, so she's just bored with Otoya. He asks her to show her what she's made of. Mami plays, and is quite good. But not enough for Otoya.
"There is no talent in you."
The girl leaves in a huff, and Yuri gets angry at Otoya. He rushes after Mami only to get kicked down a hill. Typical day for the elder Kurenai, right?
2008. A tennis player is murdered by the Seastar Fangire. Nago finds his prey, but Sakaguchi drives off yet again, leaving the bounty hunter in the dust.
Wataru & his new friend jog along the lake. She asks him about himself, and he talks about making violins. He says how lately he hasn't really felt the drive for it...
1986. Otoya's still running after the girl. Her stomach growls, and he takes her to eat at the cafe. She talks about her famous violinist parents, and their drive for her to be the same as them. Kido mentions that Otoya's been running up a massive bill and press-gangs him into bathroom cleaning duty.
2008. Wataru and Mami are back in town, and run into Megumi. Sparks fly between the older Mami and younger Megumi, and Wataru is caught in the middle.
1986. Otoya talks with Kido when Yuri comes in. Otoya, as part of his teaching, got Mami to clean the bathroom. Jirô comes in and as usual, doesn't put up with anything from Otoya. The girl asks who he is, and he simply glares at her.
Otoya & Jirô are then at a pool hall with Mami. The game will decide who gets to keep the IXA system.
2008. Wataru is weight-lifting with the girls, who appear much stronger than he is. Soon they're doing archery as well. The woman then has a vision, of an archer lying on the ground, killed by a Fangire, and collapses.
Nago is still chasing Sakaguchi, who of course turns out to be the Seastar Fangire. He thrashes Nago about, and the bounty hunter can't even rise become IXA. The Fangire leaves him behind, as Nago screams out in rage.
Despite the last scene looking like it took place at night (okay, it was underground) it's day back with our heroes. Mami confesses that she's that famous archer which Megumi then casually mentions, but she didn't go it to the Olympics out of fear after being targetted by a Fangire. Good excuse, I should start using that more. Forgot to pay you back for that one time? I was being targetted by a Fangire.
Wataru suddenly hears the Bloody Rose, and Kivat flies into action. The Seastar Fangire attacks a biker. Wataru, with some hesitation, transforms.
"Henshin!"
Kiva (Kiva Form) fights the maniacal monster, but Nago arrives and becomes IXA. Kiva summons the Garulu Saber. But IXA uses his Fake Garulu Fuestle, and steals the Saber away! He becomes Burst Mode, and slashes at both of his opponents. IXA mercilessly attacks Kiva. He knocks him away, and fires with the IXA Calibur...
NEXT TIME: Otoya promises his "final lesson", and Kiva's DoGaBaKi Form debuts!
There's also a brief preview for the movie, showing scenes of the various cast members from the TV show.

hey igadevil i've been a long follower of your blog, i've just been not commenting and all that stuff... but anyway what i wanted to say was, don't you think it's a bit TOO early for this climax form-ish thing to be debuting way too soon? I mean den-o's form didn't debut until episode 28, so kiva is doing this about 10 episodes too early don't you think?
ReplyDeleteIXA is a real bad guy, steal the weappon from the good guy.. tsk, tsk, tsk...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry - I bet there'll be plenty of new form upgrades later on in the series.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know, but that's not the point. Too many upgrades will result in Kiva being too much of a power maniac *stares at red dino ranger*, so yeah you get the idea.
ReplyDelete"Too many upgrades will result in Kiva being too much of a power maniac"
ReplyDeleteOn quoting this, it's not like it's the first one to appear after all. If anyone is actually following KR history, there is still no one to beat Kuuga's 11 forms, appearing sort of about some 2-4 episodes interval I suppose...
So maybe this may cause some of the "2nd coming of Kuuga" rumors... Who's agreeing with me that Kiva's final form would look like an all-black Dracula-ish suit with cape, somewhat similar to the Kuuga Ultimate?
The only question I have is this - Does the Garuru Fake fuestle have to be used after the Garuru Saber fuestle? Or can Garuru Fake be used to directly summon the Garuru Saber?
