Kamen Rider Kiva Episode 8: "Soul: Dragon Castle, Angered"
There's a recap of the end of the previous episode while Kivat-Bat talks about.... cooking. Count Inukai is still talking to his rose too.
1986. Shima talks to Kido and & the crew (Otoya, Yuri, Jirô). There's obviously some concern over the fact that regular customers from the cafe are now turning up dead. Jirô, feeling uncomfortable by all the attention (and Otoya being a jerkward to him) pays 10,000 Yen for his coffee again and leaves. Otoya orders a cup but tries to leave when he sees Yuri follow after Jirô. Kido stops him and sics the puppy on Otoya.
Jirô is trailed by Yuri, who confronts him with her suspicious about the incidents. Something unseen targets her, but she ducks in time to avoid being shot by familiar-looking blasts. Jirô seems nonplussed and carries on as if nothing happened. Otoya shows up the sniper's target hovers over him, but it does not fire.
2008. Back at the cafe. Megumi & Nago are having another spat over putting Wataru in such a dangerous situation with his undercover job. Wataru (still in full waiter dress) watches on. Nago storms out.
Wataru & Megumi talk about Megumi's intense dislike of Nago and how he apparently drove his own father to commit suicide.
1986. Jirô & Otoya trail Yuri. When another man talks to her (asking for assistance) Otoya attacks him in a comical frenzy. A cop shows up, and Yuri tries to get him hauled away. Jirô starts spazzing out, feeling that killing urge again. He attacks another victim. Yuri hears the scream and runs off from Otoya. The person Garulu attacks dies in the weirdest manner; their soul is literally knocked out of their body and still able to react as Garulu eats it "alive". Yuri & Otoya arrive
in time to see the body, but not the killer. Only Jirô, looking down at another victim.
To make up for his earlier going AWOL, Otoya drinks Kido's special blend of what is clearly enough coffee to be fatal. Otoya drinks it down in one gulp, impressing all. He then collapses & lays on the floor twitching.
2008. Wataru & Nago talk about Nago's father. There's a flashback to his father, and a time when Nago and him had an argument. Nago beat his father down, taking one of his buttons... "I cannot forgive a crime." he declares.
1986. Yuri takes a moment to taunt a near-dead Ooya, then leaves the cafe. As she walks by a river, Basshaa emerges, and spits water bubbles at her. He was the one
trying to shoot her earlier, she believes. Basshaa keeps shooting water from his mouth as she dodges. Otoya arrives and takes a hit full-on. Basshaa goes after Yuri, knocking some junk on her. He approachers as she tires to reach for her weapon. Jirô shows up, and they fight, although Basshaa seemingly doesn't want to and runs off. Jirô helps up a near-unconcious Yuri. Basshaa returns. "What are you doing? Why help a humab?" He reverts to his human form of a young boy named Ramon. Otoya is okay, just wet. He lies on the ground groaning about Yuri.
2008. Wataru goes to talk to the Count, but he's gone. He examines a nearby pot, and is delighted by what he finds.
"This color"... Wataru thinks he can use it for the violin dye.
Megumi eats again at her favorite place, weirding everyone else out. She sees Wataru run by with a large spoonful of the sauce and gives chase. Megumi finds out thar Wataru doesn't just play violins, but also makes them. She seems completely oblivious to Kivat-Bat, hanging around in the background. An accident causes the violin Wataru's working on to catch on fire. As if things couldn't get worse, the Count arrives at Wataru's place, furious.
"You're fired."
He takes the spoonful of sauce back. Wataru asks for Megumi's help with his own plan to get the Fangire. Below, Shizuka listens to the above, and believes Wataru is setting up a date. She swats Kivat-Bat away. So I guess she's used to that sort of thing by now.
Wataru, dressed up, meets Shizuka, and both wait for Megumi. Megumi arrives by horse, dressed in elaborate period clothing, but by the time she arrives Wataru has already left. Wataru & Shizuka go to the restaurant. Megumi watches from outside, wondering why Shizuka is there. Wataru tells Shizuka to stop eating. "Something tastes bad".
The Count shows up to talk about that special sauce of his he's using. I'm not clear on what exactly it is, just more magical evil cooking like Kabuto dropped on us or something, but I like to think it was made of people, or at least blood. Come on, it would toally fit in this show!
As is oft to happen these days, he completely destroys any deniability factor he might have had by turning into a Fangire right there and then. Wataru gets Shizuka out of there while Megumi (magically now in normal clothes) goes on the attack. Prawn Fangire and her wrestle. Shizuka runs for it, but Wataru is gone...
Now down by the docks, Megumi gets overpowered but keeps fighting back. She is knocked into the water. Wataru runs at the monster, summoning Kivat-Bat.
"Henshin!"
Kiva fights the Prawn Fangire. The Fangire tries to run for it as Megumi gets up out of the water. To cover his tracks Prawn sprays Kiva with his weapon, but Kivat-Bat flies off and attacks the Kaijin. Kiva runs up and kicks him back into a fence.
Prawn takes out his rose from earlier. As a last-ditch attack, he puts all of his lifeforce into the rose and crumbles away as Kiva tries to attack him.
Back in his evil basement/wherever, roses dissolve into five coffins, which open and the energy exits through the windows, forming into a giant monster. Kiva picks up the rose Prawn had, and sees the giant beast appear above him. He runs from it as
it shoots blasts at him. Kiva summons Castle Dran just as the monster is about to crush him. Castle Dran fights it. Dran is knocked into the water, but a smaller red dragon rises from the sea. Kivat summons it. Kiva jumps aboard and it airlifts him to the top of Dran. Dran's wings grow as the small dragon gets on its back and locks in.
As the ED theme plays (and is largely drowned out by the sound effects), Dran attacks with fireballs, missles, etc. Kiva jumps in front ot it Dran's head, and it shoots fire which propels him forward into a Rider Kick that destroys the big monster, which explodes specatacularly. Dran eats all the energy.
1986. Otoya playing violin thinking about Yuri. Elsewhere, Jirô walks through the city at night. He meets Yuri, who moves to hug him....
NEXT TIME: Hey, is that Faiz's Murakami? Also, the return of Bashaa Form, and the debut of Kamen Rider IXA!
I think you're right about the sauce being made of souls or blood. It fits my theory on the bloody rose's gloss (it's blood or the stuff that fangires suck out)
