I just readed the Shin's page, and i must say well... i wish to watch it to make my own thoughts about the film. This reminds me... i was able months ago to watck Kamen Rider World (but no Kamen Rider J), and my thougths was: "Sounds like Toei is thinking about starting a new Rider Era wit ZO and J as Double Riders".
Oh, i almost forgot ¿A Kamen Rider who is able to henshin in a giant form? Is daring, but... well, i ve not watched J's movie, and i am not able to talk about it :(
Anyway, good work Igadevil-san! Your writings are very, very easy to understand to me (i`m spanish, and i've learned english with a dictionary and interactive fiction games!)
i like it more if you look at it as a science fiction movie, rather than a super hero adventure. it's SOOO dull as hero stuff that it makes the mind wobble.
the two whole fights in the movie are pretty well done, but 2 fights in a 90 minute movie about Kamen Rider? not a good move.
i don't hate it, but i don't love it either. i enjoyed KAMEN RIDER THE FIRST more, because i had way lower expectations.
My thoughts on Shin have mellowed over the years, although I agree with some of the criticisms about the pacing of the film. It's an interesting experiment that is nowhere near perfect, but I think it (like any Rider show/movie) is still worth checking out.
takoyaki, I think you meant to reply to another entry :D
I remember watching this years ago, first time around second, third grade. I don't remember liking it that much, including the time when I re-watched it maybe five years ago.
Interesting idea, terrible execution. I wish that I could see a reincarnation of this idea, except that they cram in the then-intended sequels in one movie.
Bah, maybe they should just get working on Kamen Rider The SECOND :P

ReplyDeleteVery interesting read.
ReplyDeleteI was thought Shin Kamen Rider was just a bad idea. But by reading you review it sounds like it might be an interesting movie to watch.
