The Lies That Bind Us

I took the last week off from blogging for various personal reasons, but fortunately the rest of the world was too busy worrying about what Kamen Rider Saga in action would really be like. And guess what? We still don't know!

Spoilers & a sort-of New Rider debut ahead.

Emperor takes Queen

Kamen Rider Kiva Episode #32: "New World: Another Kiva"

Tatsulot talks about Vivaldi while Kiva destroys the Warthog Fangire. So now he's learned how to use Wikipedia too.

Mio becomes Pearl Shell Fangire and attacks Kiva, who retaliates in kind. She has some neat weapons: she forms a floating energy crown over her head which becomes a shield, and then uses multiple black "pearls" which surroung Kiva and attack him. Kiva uses Wake Up Fever on her, but she takes it on the chin and knocks him back. When he recovers, she's gone.

Kivat and Tatsulot talk with Wataru about this touch new Fangire. Wataru suddenly notices and runs to Mio, bleeding from an injury to her arm.

Back home, Wataru heals Mio's injury, but she notices that he is also hurt (and buised.) He says he injured himself falling off a bike, and she covers with the same excuse. Kivat and Tatsulot hover nearby, egging him on. Okay, can only Wataru hear/see them or something?

At some company some where, a bunch of suits sit around talking about corporate stuff. A man stands nearby, running his gloved hand along the blinds. He is the company president. Despite being far younger and dressed less formally, they all deeply respect his words, especially the leader of the group, a man with a pony tail. The president, by the way, is Taiga, Wataru's childhood friend. He's played by the same actor of a certain movie character, which makes me wonder if there will be any connection or it'll just be another Katsuhiko thing.

Bishop confronts Mio, asking her about Kiva's strength. She says that she will destroy him next time. She asks him about the King, and Bishop only speaks of how their union is essential for the Fangire's future.

1986. Otoya goes up to talk with Yuri, who is ironing in their new place. He says that she has changed a lot recently. She is happier now, having avenged her mother, and being with him. During the conversation she leaves the iron on and Otoya burns his finger trying to unsuccessfully save his shirt.

At an amusement park, he lies asleep with a newly-bandaged finger. He is awoken by Maya, playing his violin. She stops, but he asks her to continue. She plays exactly as he would. She has learned to copy his performance almost perfectly. She talks of how he is such a rare man, people like him come along only once in a hundred years (he says once in a thousand.) She then unwraps his finger, and blows across it. He watches, transfixed. When she leaves, Otoya's burn vanishes.

In the forest, Castle Dran sleeps. Maya goes in to find not Bishop, but the pony-tailed man who was at the company in 2008 rocking the cradle of the baby Taiga. She asks him to protect Taiga.

"The blessed child of King & myself."

Nearby, we see the base of the throne from the opening sequence, covered in rose petals.

2008. Taiga & his caretaker watch an experiment being carried out, some kind of laser is fired on a metal. It doesn't phase it. The scientist responsible(presumably Taiga's company is backing him) seems pleased with what this could do for the future of humanity. Taiga, however, has a different opinion...

Wataru & Nago sit at an outdoor cafe. Wataru begins to ask him something, and Nago thinks he will ask about why he became a bounty hunter. Wataru instead asks about the buttons. Nago freaks out, but it's because a nearby guy is on his cellular most-wanted list. He asks Wataru to go apprehend him as a test. Wataru does so, quite obviously, so the man runs for it. Nago tells Wataru to go after him. They fight in a playground. Taiga drives by, just as Wataru is getting beaten up. Taiga jumps in to stop this, reprimanding the man on the fact that he does wrong in a sandbox, the plaything of children. The man then beats up Taiga. However, Taiga is unphased. He gets up, grabs the man's fist, and stares him down, backing him away. The man runs, full of fear.

"What are you!?"

Taiga looks at Wataru, and recalls the past. Wataru used one of his shoes to try and stop the man, and Taiga returns it as he did with Wataru's stolen show in the past. Taiga identifies him, asking if he remembers him, and then starts playing in the sandbox. Slowly, Wataru recalls.

"Taiga-kun!"

"You haven't changed a bit."

Wataru is overjoyed, all this time he has wanted to reunite with Taiga. Nago has caught the man. He sees Wataru playing with Taiga in the sand, ticked off at his "pupil's" failure.

Unbeknownst to Wataru, Taiga also happens to be the King of the Fangire! He meets with Mio in a fancy restaraunt, for tonight King & Queen finally meet. Their destinies are intertwined, and so are those of every Fangire. Mio is torn between her love for Wataru and the fate she must follow.

Elsehwhere, Kurosawa, Taiga's caretaker, talks with the scientist from before. He then turns into the Moose Fangire and kills him. He calls his boss up to tell him about the killing.

"Well done."

Taiga tells Mio it's "business". Just as Queen's job is to kill traitors to the Fangire cause, King's job is to exterminate those who would try to further humanity's evolution. Humans must not be allowed to progress.

Megumi meets Taiga at the cafe. They chat and Taiga asks about their relationships. Wataru mentions someone he likes...

Bishop tells Mio to kill another traitor. At night, Mio becomes Pearl Shell Fangire and prepares to kill the guy, who becomes Tortoise Fangire. Her attack knocks him back into human form. He asks why they can't love humans. Speechless, she reverts to Mio, and he books it, leaving flower petals from his bouquet behind.

Another man is attacked by Kurosawa/Moose Fangire. Bloody Rose plays, Kivat goes into action.

The man is killed just as Wataru arrives to transforms into Kiva. A fight breaks out.

1986. Otoya meets with Maya, as she wonders yet again about him. Suddenly, Riki shows up.

"That woman is dangerous!"

He becomes Dogga. She removes a glove, and the Queen tatoo appears on her hand. She becomes a pinkish-colored Pearl Shell Fangire. Otoya watches on, stunned.

2008. In the same place, Kiva & Moose duke it out. Moose beats on Kiva easily. So of course he summons Tatsulot and goes to Emperor Form.

Meanwhile, a mysterious new figure approaches the fight. A New Rider. Kamen Rider Saga. He stands high above and watches down on the fight, unseen by Kiva...

NEXT TIME: Saga finally gets a piece of the action when he goes after Tortoise Fangire. How will Wataru react when he finds out his girlfriend and childhood friend are the leaders of his enemies? And what the hell happened to Kengo again? It's about to be a bad time to be Wataru...

  1. That sounds like an interesting episode. I wonder what the ultimate reason will be for King seeking to stop humanity's progress.

  2. Does the Royal fangires passes on the same fangire form too? Like Maya's Pearl shell fangire as too Mio's?

I wonder who will be the next Rook? Perhaps someone's who loves Ro_k! Friends do tend to go against Wataru after all.

  3. Every royal fangire seems to have a job except Rook. what's the point of his existence anyway?

Any how, same as monsutta, i wonder who'll be the next rook? geez, i hope they let Kengo stay outta this. Wataru's so pity, both his girlfriend & childhood friend going against him.

  4. Finally I have some time to comment here!
I can see why Nago was pissed off. he said to Wataru to catch the man, and found him playin with sand. C'mon:-)
What I found interesting, is that now Otoya knows of Maya being a fangire. As always, 1986 is more interesting of 2008 [to be honest, though, also present plot seems movin lately]. Cant wait for next week.
