Kamen Rider Kiva Episode 16: "Player: Heartless Rules"

Kivat talks about the Rook (chess piece) while Kiva gets his butt kicked by Lion Fangire. Things look bad for Kiva as Lion Fangire takes the Garulu Saber. But the monster suddenly stops, drops the sword, and grabs his head in pain.

1986. Lion Fangire hits IXA with a projectile attack that knocks him back, and he reverts to Jirô, who runs for it. Lion Fangire reverts to his human form, Rook, and leaves. An injured Yuri stumbles after him, stopping to pick up the IXA Knuckle.

"This is..."

Rook sets a new rule for his "Time Play": going after skateboarders.

2008. Wataru, still blissfully unaware of the truth, talks with Dai-chan (Shizuka is there too) Dai-chan looks at a dude on a skateboard, and seems to recall something...

The girl Wataru & Dai-chan heled out from last episode shows up, and they go to her restaurant to meet daddy. Dai-chan wants to help out with pounding the noodles, although Wataru says they shouldn't interrupt the work. Ther owner says it's okay though. Wataru explains to the girl that Dai-chan has amnesia, but in spite of this, Dai-chan seems determined to help out there, full-time. The owner decides to give it a go.

1986. Rook murders a bunch of skaters, and under his set time limit. He goes off to collect his reward.

Jirô meets with Otoya, who asks him for help. Obviously, Otoya is skeptical. "Not for me... for Yuri."

Jirô is aware that the Rook is the one who killed Yuri's mother, as well as his own people. He explains how Rook's "Time Play games" involve him killing a certain number of people in a set amount of time. If he wins the challenge, he rewards himself; if he loses, he punishes himself (by electrocution. Ouch!) So basically he's both a sadist and masochist, wonderful.

Otoya agrees to help, but with much suspicion...

2008. Dai-chan seems to be firmly established as a worker at the noodle shop now. Wataru & Shizuka watch in, and are glad to see him getting along in spite of his condition.

Later, the girl's bike goes out of control again, but Dai-chan saves her. The shop owner watches on, proudly... he soon asks Wataru to give him Dai-chan (re: to marry his daughter.) Obviously, Wataru is a little taken aback by this, but decides to observe Dai-chan to see if it's time to let him leave the nest.

Wataru & Shizuka wath on as Dai-chan & the girl row out in a lake. Dai-chan sees the spouting water of a fountain, and remember something. He later explains this to Wataru. He remembers something called the "Red Tiled-Fountain"...

1986. Rook eats another parfait- his reward. He decides to get on with his game, and sees a kid with balloons.

"Balloons. That's it."

Yuri searches frantically for the Rook... until Otoya stops her. Jirô pushes him out of the way, and explains their plan to get the Lion Fangire. "Leave it to us."

Yuri is defiant. If Lion Fangire is to die, it must be by her hand. So Otoya knocks her out, they take the IXA Knuckle, and leg it.

2008. Wataru is in the cafe, and notices a dour-looking Megumi. I like Kido's shirt here. Nago enters, asking for coffee, and Megumi makes the mistake of trying to taunt him for his loss. "I didn't lose. IXA lost."

Nago is smug in the new power he's been given...

1986. Rook kills people with balloons. At a Red-Tiled Fountain...

2008. In that same place, Wataru, Shizuka & Dai-chan try to revive his memories. He sees the scars on the wall left by his attack, and stumbles off... The Soba shop girl follows him.

1986. Rook's game is interrupted when Jirô & Otoya show up. "Time for a new game... the one where we destroy you." says Otoya.

Jirô transforms into IXA, but Rook becomes Lion Fangire, and beats him down. Otoya grabs the Knuckle. Suddenly, Yuri shows up with her whip thing. "You... why did you kill my mother"

Lion Fangire claims he can't remember why he killed one person, after all, he kills so many every day. Enraged, Yuri attacks him, but is knocked out.

Otoya becomes IXA, and Jirô becomes Garulu. They double-team Lion Fangire, who bashes them about together. They attempt a double flying kick on him, but just end up hitting each other. Lion Fangire hits them with his bullets, knocking them both back into human form.

Suddenly, his watch beeps (even still in Fangire form!) and Lion reverts to Rook. He lost the game, he must punish himself...

2008. Dai-chan screams out as he remembers 22 years ago. His skin cracks and splinters into stain glass as the Soba shop girl looks on.

The Bloody Rose plays. Wataru races into action.

Wataru arrives at the noodle shop, just in time to find everyone dead. He watches as Dai-chan... Rook, kills the girl. Rook then blasts him right out of the shop. He approaches Wataru menacingly. "22 years ago... I went to sleep."

Rook announces his true title of "Rook, one of the great Checkmate Four" and proceeds to beat up a disbelieving Wataru. He changes to Lion Fangire, and Wataru changes to Kiva.

"Henshin!"

Kiva (Kiva Form) fights the Fangire, who recognizes Wataru as being Kiva. He finds this development "interesting".

Lion is still too strong though. Holy crap! Lion Fangire stabs through Kiva with his giant, sharp nails. He then summons together soul energy, which form into a giant CG Fangire thing.

Kivat-Bat summons Castle Dran. Unfortunately, Nago arrives in time to see this, and becomes IXA. He summons his own robotic Powered IXA, now stocking the shelves in all fine toy stores across Japan.

Castle-Dran attempts to fight the monster, but is grabbed and thrown aside by Powered IXA. IXA says that they're useless, and shows off his new weapon.

Powered IXA dodges the giant Fangire's shots, then grabs it and throws it around. It then chucks giant blue capstules at it, destroying it. Just like the toy! Except in that, the capsules contain mini figures of IXA and IXAlion. Um, okay then...

Castle Dran sends out a blast of fire, which envelops Wataru, and brings him inside Castle Dran as it escapes.

Garulu carries Wataru through the halls of Castle Dran...

NEXT TIME: What a jerkface! IXA's swiping Kiva's weapons. Also, Wataru's shooting arrows, and the boys of Castle Dran are up to something.
