Doggone It

Since #13~14 were two parts of one story, I held off until after this episode airs to work on my "Kiva thus far" review, coming soon, along with a special announcement about the future of the IKRB (which basically entails that as of May 4th I'll be getting back on track. Yay.)

Kamen Rider Kiva Episode 14: "Pomp & Circumstance: Thunderstrike Purple Eye"

In an abridged version of the last episode's fight, Otoya becomes IXA and uses the IXA Knuckle on Garulu while Kivat blabs away about dreams, hopes, aspirations, and other stuff. Garulu dodges at the last second, and legs it. IXA de-transforms as he runs away.

"This is great, this power..." but Otoya collapses in pain, and passes out.

2008. Shizuka watchees Kengo & Wataru work through binoculars. Back at Kengo's place, the guys eat, and Kengo thanks Wataru for helping him out with his dream. Wataru is happy to oblige, seemingly unaware of the danger lurking just around the corner. Kengo says that Wataru truly is his best friend.

Miyake and Kengo meet, with Miyaka holding a ton of money gained from Kengo. But he wants more. Only then, can he make Kengo's dream come true...

Kido hugs his doggy while Shima talks with Nago. Nago gets ticked when the other man says he lost to Kiva.

"I didn't lose. IXA lost!"

Nago is losing it, disturbing Megumi. But Shima metnions that soon, IXA will have new power, greater than anything of Kiva's.

1986. Jirô explains to Shima & Yuri that Otoya now has IXA. He stole it... well, Jirô dropped it, and now Otoya has it. Shima gets suspicious of Jirô's reasons, but Kido defends him as a good man. After all, he drinks a lot of coffee.

Outside, Otoya confronts Yuri, who begins to pat him down, trying to find the IXA Knuckle. Oh, and that song playing in the background during this scene? Completely off the wall but I had a roommate who played the music video all the time, and it's about as 80's as you get, so good job Toei for going the extra mile on this one. Yuri consults with Shima about what to do.

Otoya is in a bathroom, feeling weakened and delirious. Yuri waits for him outside, and he emerges as if nothing's wrong. Just then Miyake walks past them! He goes to cheer on another future victim, a wannabe baseball player. The man hands over some money, asking when he will become a pro. But Miykae's response is to become the Rhinoceros Fangire and kill him. And all for the want of a burp joke? Cold, guys. Cold.

Miyake then walks into a building, his "home" perhaps, where he has a photo of all his victims as well as an item he took from them at the time that he killed them (in this case, a baseball.) He laughs like a loon, whoever thought Alternative Zero had it in him?

2008. Miyake is in the same place, and his collection has grown. He adds a photo of Kengo to the shelf...

Wataru & Megumi discuss Miyake back at the cafe. Shizuka has been doing research, and from the evidence Megumi has concluded that he may, in fact, be a Fangire. But to be honest, who isn't, right?

Wataru tries to convince Kengo that he's evil, but Kengo is too blinded by his upcoming dream. He doesn't believe his friend, and even shovels dirt on him. Better watch you back Kengo; not believing the hero usually leads to bad things.

Shima and Nago exit a helicoper, and walk up to a warehouse, and shows him the Powered IXA, IXA's answer to Castle Dran. You can bet Nago is going to be one happy kid soon.

1986. Otoya receives a massage courtesy of a familiar set of hands in a familiar place. Yuri is there too. In fact, so are Ramon & Riki. It's Riki's massage parlor/hangout for the F.A. (Fangires Anonymous) The humans discuss IXA. Or at least Yuri tries to, but you know how Otoya is.

When they leave, we see that Jirô was waiting in the rafters above. He's got a request for Ramon... Also, Riki gets to speak for like, the first time in a while (or ever?) and he speaks... very.... very.... sloooooooooooooooooooowly.

2008. Kengo & Miyake discuss their arrangement, but Kengo seems to be having some second thoughts. Miyake convinces him otherwise, I mean, we're talking about his dreams of the future, right!? Wataru watches, hidden from both. He then follows Miyake back to his house, where the memorial or rather, "graveyard" to all his victims waits. Miyake is there, and explains how great it is to have the life energy of young, hopeful people. Tastes like chicken, and all that. Wataru searches and finds Kengo's picture. Miyake becomes the Rhinoceros Fangire. Bloody Rose plays, and Kivat-Bat wings it.

He shows up just as Wataru gets chucked through the air. Our hero is not in a good mood.

"You alone... you alone, I can't forgive!"

"Henshin!"

Kiva (Kiva Form) lunges at the monster, but Rhinoceros Fangire is too strong for him. Not interested in pushing his luck on a ticked-off Rider though, the monster hoofs it. Kiva pursues his enemy.

1986. Yuri wonders where Otoya is. Where indeed? Otoya is stumbling through the woods, in pain. Jirô shows up.

"Give me back IXA."

But Otoya is defiant.

"I will destroy you!" He transforms, attempting a manner similar to Kamen Rider 1 because hey, they need to stick in kisses to the past wherever possible, right?

"Henshin!"

He becomes IXA, and Jirô becomes Garulu. A fight breaks out, ending with IXA kicking his opponent back into a tree.

2008. Kengo plays in the warehouse... but Rhinoceros Fangire appears, turning into Miyake. Kengo is screwed! The creepy man announces that the time has come, and goes back to Fangire form, closing in on his prey. But Kiva appears from above, and knocks him back! Kengo watches amazed as Kiva fights the Kaijin. Our hero gets pushed out of the warehouse, and sarts taking a major beating from the monster.

"We can't lose to this guy!" says Kivat.

Dogga is summoned. Garulu & Basshaa are disappointed that it isn't them...

The Dogga Hammer flies out of Castle Dran, and Kiva takes it. His upper body is almost totally wrapped in chains. And he becomes Dogga Form.

Dogga Form drags his massive hammer behind him. He is incredibly strong. He swings it slowly, but with such power and force that he easily sends the monster flying. Soon it's time to finish things.

Kivat bites the hammer's handle, and lightning strikes all around. Enraged, the monster shoots out steam and charges our hero, but the Hammer's "fingers" life up, and the eye on its "palm" opens, shooting out a wave of energy that stops the monster cold. The large hammer "fist" enlarges, and Dogga Form smashes the Fangire into nothingness. Castle Dran eats the leftovers. Kiva reverts to Wataru. And I can't wait for the SH figure now, because Dogga Form, in just a few seconds, has proven to be really, really cool.

1986. IXA is beating on Garulu, but Basshaa shows up to help his fellow monster out.

"Boku Sanjou!"

Bad timing too, as IXA begins to steam, and weaken. Basshaa shoots a blast, knocking him down (watch carefully and you can see a crosshairs appear in his eye!) IXA reverts to Otoya. Garulu puts a foot on him, crushing him. Basshaa prods him with a twig. Either way, Otoya is in big trouble...

NEXT TIME: The Lion Fangire appears to kick everyone's butts.
