KR Den-O Episode #17: "That Person Just Now! Already in the Past?"

The long-awaited "plot development" episode!

II Spoiler Warning!, II Spoiler Warning!, SUGEE Spoiler Warning!

***

At the Milk Dipper, Ryôtarô feels the weight of four Imagins coming down on him like a ton of bricks and collapses. Hana storms onto the Den-Liner and informs the bickering Imagin that they must have a リストラ (Risutora, a "restructuring of a company".) The Imagin realize that one of them will have to go to lighten the load.

Ryôtarô, leaving the hospital, meets his old high school pal Sawada, who was studying abroad. Keen to catch up on old times, they yammer away while the Imagin try to decide which one of them will get the boot. At first, the other three team up on Momotaros, but the red guy isn't going down without a fight.

While talking about the good 'ol days, Sawada mentions Airi, how she would like some of her delicious coffee (the only thing Airi seems to make right) and ponders if she ever did end up getting married to...

Ryôtarô freaks out! Originally telling Sawada they can go visit Airi, he quickly changes his mind and shivers off like he'd seen a ghost. Ryôtarô flashbacks to the scenes of his sister and her mysterious beau, and then a shot of snow falling on water.

Sawada goes to visit her old school, but finds so much of it has changed, and even her old tennis coach barely gives her the time of day. On the way there, a mysterious ball of light entered her, and as she mopes about her school just not being the same, the Wolf Imagin emerges and asks for her wish (anyone else really wish that they had gotten Handa Kento do the voice of Wolf Imagin?)

Since Ryuutaros has a ticket, and thus immunity from gettin' kicked off the train (what is this, reality TV?) Momotaros, Kintaros & Urataros take turns controlling Ryôtarô (back at the Milk Dipper) to see who is the least useful to him. Miura & Ozaki arrive just in time to see Ryôtarô flipping out, breaking things and all that jazz. The former is still convinced he's possessed by a demon, but our rubber-faced friend just seems unphased by everything (he's clearly on his meds again.)

Wolf Imagin goes around blowing up schoolgirls. Not much I can say about that other than it's pretty twisted.

Hana yells at the Imagin, telling that they're only doing more harm than good by liberally taking control of his body. Ryôtarô has been distracted this whole time by the pocketwatch hidden under the telescope back in the shop (the same one Airi was looking at a while ago, and very, very similar to the one the mysterious watch-holder has.) Ryuutaros informs Ryôtarô that someone close to him is in danger (gee, thanks!) and our hero and Hana rush off to find Wolf Imagin and Sawada. Feeling his contract is fulfilled, the Kaijin enters her past and goes back to 2004.

As usual the Imagin twisted the nostalgia-stricken Sawada's words by killing members of the tennis squad and taking their stuff (pretty sadistic.) Ryôtarô also lets slip that he quit high school before graduating, surprising Sawada & Hana. But our man main doesn't elaborate, he's got work to do. He transforms into Den-O Plat Form and heads for the past.

Momotaros & the others wonder what he's up to, and he merely says he wants to try fighting alone this time. Arriving on 4/7/2004, Den-O sees not just a younger Sawada, but Airi and himself! He follows the girl however and arrives as Wolf Imagin emerges from her body and begins attacking people.

Den-O puts up a fight, but is overpowered. He's sent flying right into the mysterious watch-holder, who drops his own watch. Recognizing it as being a match to Airi's, Den-O tries to get a good look at the mysterious man, but he evades his gaze, grabbing the watch and making a run for it.

Ryuutaros takes control, Den-O goes into Gun Form, and he fights off Wolf Imagin (who escapes.) You might just barely be able to make out "Double Action Gun Form" in the beginning.

Ryôtarô asks Ryuutaros to leave him, and he sets off after the mysterious man, with Hana in pursuit of him. As Ryôtarô chases the mystery man (the place they run through should look familiar if you've watched almost any of the Heisei Rider series), he begins to put everything together in his head. He's sure he knows the mysterious man. And his name is...

"SAKURAI-SAN!"

To Be Continued...

What We Learned This Episode:
  • Milk Dipper doesn't get many female customers.
  • BUBBLES!
  • Ryôtarô goes to the hospital on a regular basis.
  • Momotaros can't make coffee.
  • Kintaros also can't make coffee.
  • Urataros doesn't even try to make coffee.
  • Ryôtarô is a HS drop-out!
  • RISTORAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
  • Hana doesn't always bother to change into her "on the Den-Liner" outfit.
  • Ryôtarô is apparently used to seeing himself in the past. He took that incredibly well (then again, can you blame him? That's probably one of the more normal things he's seen.)
  • The mysterious man was probably standing right behind Den-O this entire time and he just never saw him. Being Ryôtarô, he had to get knocked into him to notice.
  • This episode didn't have nearly enough funny stuff for us to learn about :(

And what is the extent of his relationship with Airi? Which Imagin will be voted off the island train? Tune in next time, same Rider... time, same Rider channel!

  7. Yay! More Plat Form Goodness...

Looks like I'm the only one here who thinks that Plat form is cool.

Ryoutarou's fighting skills are improving, but still... mada mada dane.

Another thing, PLAT FORM NEVER USES HIS WEAPON!!! (the Dengasher) I know that basic forms are usually weak, but when you have a weapon, at least use it. (Like that time when Kamen Rider Ryuuki haven't yet made the contract with the dragon) If Plat Form ever does use it, I wonder what form will it be like?
