Okay, I said I would probably do my big Kamen Rider Kabuto overview tonight. That was until I realized it was turning into possibly the longest thing I've written for this blog yet, and it being late at night (or early in the morning) I'd rather send it out finished and checked over for spelling and such rather than a big rambling unreadable piece of rant-age (which it will most likely be anyway.) So that'll be for tomorrow (Thursday.) To hold you over until then, here's some very early Kamen Rider Kabuto production sketches I scanned in from the recently-released "Details of Hero 03: Masked Rider System" photo book, a must have if you like the Rider costumes from the show. Hopper Zecter
Wow, so Kabuto came from all those sketches? I don't like those designs though; they all look too complicated. Kabuto's simple, sleek design is still the best. I feel that the first scan should have been used as the final design for Hyper Form; it looks much more powerful, sleeker/faster and alot more imposing than the final Hyper costume we got. I wish Toei/Bandai would release sketches of the costumes prior to the show's release and have fans vote for their favourite design, but that dream will probably never come true in this lifetime (or even my next). Oh well.

I kinda liked the rider version of sketch number 3, he looks scary! First one looks stupid though, for a moment I thought it was a happy crab what was drawn on the chest of masked version.

Great series, still on 45 or so, catching up! I really wish that the Hoppers were a little more prominent, since I love the designs. I still prefer grasshoppers :)
Never seen those scans before, I really like them! They do look very Metal Hero like (especially design #3), but very cool. Perhaps I'll model a few someday in 3D.

If you're asking me, the first picture where the initial rider sketches appear to me as:
